REGIONAL & CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

THE PATH TO WILLIAMSPORT

With the local competitions ending on June 16th, the top 10 baseball and softball qualifiers from the East and the West local competitions will move on to the Regional Finals in Atlanta and Seattle.

Travel accommodations for each qualifier plus a parent/guardian will be provided for the Regional Finals and Championship Round.

Who qualifies for the Regional?

The top 2 home run hitters in each of the Regions (EAST 1-4, WEST 5-8) from the Official Baseball Standings and Official Softball Standings will qualify. Joining these 8 automatic qualifiers will be the top 2 overall wild cards from across those regions. A total of 10 finalists for Baseball and 10 finalists for Softball will be announced here in early July once all results have been submitted. 

CHAMPIONSHIP ROUND

August 17, 2019
Bowman Field, Williamsport, PA

The top 4 home run hitters from each Regional will advance for a total of 8 finalists for Baseball and 8 finalists for Softball. These competitors will square off in Williamsport for the championship of the inaugural T-Mobile Little League® Home Run Derby.

OFFICIAL REGIONAL FINAL AND CHAMPIONSHIP RULES

Regulations

  • Softball & Baseball Fence Distance – 170’
  • Pitcher will be throwing from behind an L-Screen 40’ from home plate
  • Previous pitch must land before the next pitch can be thrown

1st Round – 10 Participants (Regional Final) / 8 Participants (Championship)

  • Each participant receives 2 minutes to hit as many home runs as possible
  • The clock will start with the release of the first pitch
  • Any fair ball that lands over the fence in fair territory is a home run.
  • At the end of the 1st Round, the 6 participants with the most home runs will advance to the 2nd Round in the Regionals (4 Participants for the Championship)

2nd Round – 6 Participants (Regional Final / 5 Participants (Championship)

  • Each participant receives 2 minutes to hit as many home runs as possible
  • The clock will start with the release of the first pitch
  • Any fair ball that lands over the fence in fair territory is a home run
  • At the end of the 2nd Round, the 4 participants with the most total home runs (combined totals from 1st and 2nd rounds) will advance to the Final Round of the Regionals (2 Participants for the Championship)

Final Round – 4 Participants (Regional Final) / 3 Participants (Championship)

  • Each participant receives 2 minutes to hit as many home runs as possible
  • The clock will start with the release of the first pitch
  • Any fair ball that lands over the fence in fair territory is a home run
  • In the Final Round, participant’s scores will reset. At the end of the Final Round, the participant with the most home runs is the inaugural T-Mobile Little League Home Run Derby Champion

Tie-Breakers

In the event of a tie after each round, there will be a hit-off with the participants that are tied. Each participant will receive 3 outs at a time, the contestant with the most home runs after the 3 outs will advance to the next round or be crowned the champion. If after the three additional outs there is a tie, participants will go to a hit off where each contestant will receive one swing at a time, with the first person to hit a home run becoming the winner.
